Tales from the Tombstone: Candlelight Graveyard Tours

Friday 6:15 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

The San Jacinto Battleground has been a final resting place for Texans for at least 200 years. This Halloween, join us for a special candlelight tour of two of our cemeteries to illuminate the real stories of the men and women who lived, fought, and died here.

Bird Watching at the Battleground

From the 1,210-foot long marsh trail and boardwalk, visitors will spot coastal birds like the Red-winged Blackbird, Roseate Spoonbill, Wood Stork, Mottled Duck, Osprey, and White Pelican as well as other wetland denizens such as the River Otter.

You are invited to Join Caddo Mounds SHS and Caddo citizens in celebration of Caddo history and contemporary culture. Caddo Culture Day offers entertainment for the whole family. ****Make sure to mark that you are interested in attending this event, so that you see all updates to the event details.**** The Friends of Caddo Mounds will provide lunch for all volunteers! Never touch a Native American dancer's regalia. If you feel the need to touch, always ask permission, and be gentle and considerate. Respect the personal space of dancers as you should for anyone else. You'll find that most dancers are friendly and will answer your questions about their regalia. Admission is free, but donations to the Friends of Caddo Mounds, Inc. are appreciated. Ample parking is provided. Cycling Saturdays

Saturday 7 a.m. - 9 a.m.

The roads within the San Jacinto State Historic Site will open early for bicyclists. Travel our 7.5 miles of site roads and see the battleground where Texas was won at your own pace. No motorized vehicles will be allowed into the site during this time to promote safe bicycling.
