County Historical Commissions (CHCs) play a vital role in statewide efforts to preserve Texas' historic and cultural resources. To support this service, the Texas Historical Commission (THC) created the CHC Outreach Program. We support CHCs across the state that manage and complete preservation projects. Use the menus below to learn more about CHCs and the CHC Outreach Program.

Contact a CHC

County Historical Commission (CHC) chairs serve as the first point of contact for county preservation matters. Contact information for chairs is taken from appointee rosters submitted to the THC. This information changes frequently. Outreach Program staff make every effort to provide the most up to date list. If a county is missing from the list, that means our staff did not receive contact information from the county/CHC. To speak with a member of a CHC not included in the list, contact the County Judge's office.
