Demo Day: Camp Kitchen

On November 21st, join educators outside of the San Jacinto Monument to witness a real-life camp kitchen in action and experience the sights and smells of the frontier! Learn about rations and food preservation and find out how to eat like a Texian soldier.

Learn more about traditional spinning and weaving at a demonstration from the Bay Area Weavers and Spinners every second Saturday at the San Jacinto Museum.

For this demo day, watch as San Jacinto Battleground educators demonstrate how to use a flint and steel to prepare a fire, and learn how to make your own char-cloth. We’ll even show you how to create your own Texian fire making kit!

Special Program- Butchering & Curing *Weather Dependent* (Saturday)

Join us for our annual butchering and curing weekend, where we will be butchering a hog on Saturday and beginning the curing process on Sunday. This program will be ongoing, so if you wish to see every step, you must attend the entire event. Program is dependent on cool weather.

Practice your stitches while making a pincushion in the parlor of the main house, and head to the Quarter to try your hand sewing leather at the stitching horse!
