In honor of Selena Quintanilla-Pérez's birthday April 16th and in advance of the film screening on April 19th, the French Legation State Historic Site will moderate an online panel discussion with the film's producer Moctesuma Esparza, Cine Las Americas, Texas Film Commission, and Texas Archive of the Moving Image, offering insights into Selena's enduring legacy and the cultural significance of her real-life story and the film’s impact.

The panel will offer participants the chance to view additional footage and materials to further immerse attendees in Selena's world, celebrating her musical prowess and cultural significance ahead of the 1997 Selena movie screening and archival showing at The University of Texas at Austin Benson Latin American Collection.  These events promise nostalgia, music, and cultural appreciation as the community comes together to remember the Queen of Tejano music in the Live Music Capitol of the World.
