Amenities

Restrooms

Accessible restrooms are located throughout the site in several locations including the Visitor Center, Conference Center, Star of the Republic Museum, Barrington Farm and the picnic grounds. Changing tables are in all facilities except the picnic area restrooms.

Picnic Area

There are numerous picnic tables in the picnic area that are free to use. In addition, Washington-on-the-Brazos has two covered pavilions that are available for rent. There is a playground onsite for the kids to explore.

Food/Drinks/Washington Mercantile

There are no restaurants available on site, but a selection of drinks and snacks are available in the Washington Mercantile. Food trucks will be onsite during special event weekends, and there are many restaurants in Brenham and Navasota (both a 30-minute drive from the site). We encourage picnics and cookouts at our pecan covered picnic area.

Visitor Parking and Accessibility

There are handicapped accessible parking spots in the main visitor lot, Barrington Farm lot, Star of the Republic Museum lot and the picnic area parking lot.

Our nature trails, Townsite trails and Barrington paths are crushed granite and accessible by wheelchair.

Volunteer Opportunities

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help with educational programs, history reenactment, site maintenance, blacksmithing, woodworking, site hosts, and more at the Washington-on-the-Brazos Complex. No prior knowledge is required to become a volunteer—we will provide training and educational resources.
