October is Texas Archeology Month, a celebration of history and heritage through the lens of archeology. Throughout the month, the Texas Historical Commission (THC) and partners across the state provide hands-on activities and host commemorative events such as archeology fairs, demonstrations, presentations, museum exhibits, and walking tours.
How You Can Participate in Texas Archeology Month!
- Host an archeology-related event or distribute archeology-related materials in October. Visit the Texas Archeology Month Partner Portal to get your event on the Texas Archeology Month Calendar and Map and request free public outreach materials to use and give out.
- Volunteer for Texas Archeology Month preparations or events. Keep an eye on the THC’s social media for volunteer opportunities.
- Attend a Texas Archeology Month event (or several!) near you during the month of October. Texas Archeology Month Calendar and Map. Some locations and events will have free Pinch Pot Kits for kids!
Support Texas Archeology Month
Donate to the Friends of the Texas Historical Commission to support events such as archeology fairs, demonstrations, activity kits, museum tours and exhibits, lectures and presentations, and history walks.
