Stephen F. Austin State Park Nature Center (located one mile west of San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site)

Join us Saturday, June 10th at 10am in the Stephen F. Austin State Park Nature Center (located one mile west of San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site) for a program discussing a few of many enslaved and free black citizens living in the town 200 years ago. These people contributed to the town in many different ways and their legacy still lasts into our modern town of San Felipe today. This presentation will also cover the complex laws surrounding slavery in Mexican Texas that kept enslavement legal in Texas, but abolished elsewhere in Mexico.
Admission to Stephen F. Austin State Park required. Texas State Parks Pass holders free of charge!
Second Saturdays with Steve are monthly programs presented by the staff of San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site in collaboration with the Stephen F. Austin State Park.
