Oak Gall or Iron Gall ink is a historic ink made by mixing the tannic acid from the oak gall with a soluble iron solution to produce a black writing ink.
Many important historic documents such the Codex Sinaiticus, the Magna Carta, and the United States' Constitution were written using this type of ink.
Join us at Villa de Austin on Saturday September 19, where we'll showcase how to turn oak galls into the black writing ink. Hope to see you there.
