Immigrant Roots, American Branches...
Join us on the Bluff from March 7-15 for nine days of unique Spring Break activities! Each day features a different program from 10am-2pm inspired by the 19th-century immigrant's journey to Texas.
Step into the shoes of an early settler coming to Texas and practice the skills needed to succeed in your new life.
On Saturday, March 14th, learn how German immigrants preserved their culture & customs! Participate in the daily tradition of kaffee und kuchen (coffee & cake) while practicing some Texas-German vocabulary. Grab some hot cocoa if coffee isn't your thing.
Be sure to pick up a Spring Break Passport booklet for the week. Earn stamps by attending programs for a chance to win prizes!
This program is in partnership with the German Texan Heritage Society (https://www.germantexans.org/) and Texas German Dialect Project (https://tgdp.org/).
This event is presented as part of Texas America250, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
