Step back in time and immerse yourself in the vibrant spirit of the 1830s at the San Jacinto Fall Fandango on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. In an era where neighbors lived miles apart, social gatherings like a fandango were essential for bringing communities together. Families and friends are invited to join us as we explore civilian life on the Texas frontier and experience the joy of these historic festivities!

Location: Outside the San Jacinto Monument, 1 Monument Circle, La Porte, TX 77571 

Age Range: All ages; activities for kids and adults 

Cost: FREE to attend. Food and merchandise will be available for purchase. 

Note: The event is outdoors, so please dress accordingly for the weather.

Chili Queens’ Chili Experience: A Culinary Journey in Time - Journey back to the era of San Antonio's iconic Chili Queens, the culinary legends who transformed the city's plazas into food havens, from the 19th to the early 20th century. At the San Jacinto Fall Fandango, immerse yourself in their rich history, witness live cooking demonstrations of their age-old techniques, and indulge in the flavors of authentic recipes from their time. Dive deep into a blend of culture, taste, and nostalgia that is sure to be a memorable experience. 

 

Will Howard Gaming Hall - Step into a bygone era with the Will Howard Gaming Hall. Engage in a selection of historical games such as the card game "Faro", the dice game "Chuck-a-Luck", and the classic strategy of "Mill/Morris". And that's just a taste! A variety of tabletop games, games of luck, and more await attendees. Dive into the rich tapestry of games that once entertained many and discover other offerings that promise to captivate both young and old. 

 

Market Vendors and Food Trucks: 

We are seeking artisans, food vendors, and local goods purveyors to celebrate Texas history and culture at the Fall Fandango. With over 1,000 attendees expected, including families and community members, this event offers a unique opportunity to showcase your products against the iconic backdrop of the San Jacinto Monument. 

Vendor fees are $25 for artisans and $75 for food vendors. Please note that vendors must provide their own tables, chairs, and tents, as no power or water access will be provided.
