New Exhibit: Early Builders of Commerce and Community Moritz Loewenstein and Judge Joseph Magoffin

The El Paso Mission Trail Association, in collaboration with the Magoffin Home State Historic Site, is proud to present "Early Builders of Commerce and Community: Moritz Loewenstein and Judge Joseph Magoffin." This exhibit explores the lives, legacies, and contributions of two pioneering figures who helped shape El Paso’s development in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Joseph Magoffin, known as the "Father of El Paso," and Moritz Loewenstein, the "Father of Ysleta," played critical roles in the city’s economic and cultural growth. Through their leadership in business, governance, and education, they laid the foundations for a thriving El Paso community.
This exhibit will feature:
-Rare historical photographs of the Magoffin and Loewenstein families
-Fashion artifacts from the 1870s-1920s, highlighting the era’s style
- Insights into El Paso’s early commerce and urban planning
-The historical connection between the Magoffin Home State Historic Site and the Mission Valley Visitor Center which were the homes of these two powerful families.
