Join descendants of the Dawson & Mier Expedition men, members of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Sons of the Republic of Texas, community members, Sites staff, and volunteers as we honor the soldiers entombed on Monument Hill.
8:30 a.m. - Invite-only Descendant's Reunion and Breakfast
9:30 a.m. - Public Memorial Ceremony
11:00 a.m. - Lecture with Dr. Frank de la Teja: Erasmo Seguín, A Neglected Texas Founding Father
The memorial ceremony will include special remarks, a keynote speech from Frank de la Teja, a wreath laying, and a gun salute. Access to the grounds for the memorial is free.
Seating may be limited. Personal lawn chairs are welcomed and encouraged. The ceremony will be streamed on Facebook for those unable to attend in person.
In the afternoon, head to the Faison House in downtown La Grange for their special Texas Heroes Day program: "Nathaniel Faison: Modest Merchant to Texas Hero" at 1:00 p.m.
This event is presented as part of Texas America250, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
