Join the Maxey House Book Club in the Maxey House sunroom on Thursday, August 21 at 7:00 pm to discuss Empire of the Summer Moon by S.C. Gwynne.
Empire of the Summer Moon tells the sweeping and often brutal history of the Comanche tribe’s rise and fall on the American frontier, focusing especially on Quanah Parker, the last great Comanche chief, and the violent clash between Native American resistance and westward expansion.

The Maxey House Book Club meets every month to discuss a book with the following criteria:
1) written during the time the family lived in the Maxey House (1868-1966)
2) a non-fiction book about that period
3) a fiction book that takes place in that period
