Life was challenging for the friars of Mission Dolores. In addition to prayer and ministering to the local Ais, they worked to produce food and other items needed for daily life. In a letter to his superiors, Father Antonio Margil de Jesús wrote ‘[I] spent [my] days cultivating the soil, weaving baskets, cutting wood, and making cord.” Join our site educator Amy and learn to weave your own market basket. Participants will make their own market basket to take home.
