The land at Varner-Hogg Plantation has been cultivated for at least 200 years. From the enslaved people who maintained their own gardens to the farming era of the Hogg Ranch, gardening is a skill that has been necessary for survival, as well as a way to express cultural identity. Come explore the greenhouse and take part in its cultivation while we prepare for spring. This is an open-house activity where you can participate at any time throughout the day.
Activities include:
- Seed germination activities
- Garden scavenger hunt
- Decorate a garden rock
- Roots, stem, buds, and leaves identification
- Garden Sensory Station
