The Victorian era was a time of social change and leisure activities. Croquet was one of the most popular games during this period, enjoyed by both men and women. It was a game that allowed for social interaction and was played on lawns, making it a favored pastime for outdoor gatherings. The game's popularity was further fueled by its accessibility and the fact that it could be played on equal terms, allowing for a more inclusive social setting. Croquet's rise in popularity during the Victorian era is a testament to the social dynamics of the time and the desire for leisure and camaraderie among Victorians.  Call Joanne Soward at 361-230-2301 or email at joanne.soward@thc.texas.gov for more information.
